A Selection of Different Image Formats
O&O DiskImage offers two alternatives to choose from when imaging data: a complete image or an incremental image. The complete image provides yet more flexibility with the offer of either a forensic image of the storage medium or an image of the used sectors only. With every image, including incremental images or split images, every piece of information in every image file is saved. This avoids a situation where images may be missed, whilst also maintaining a structural consistency throughout.

Compression and encryption
O&O DiskImage supports compression and encryption in accordance with AES (128, 196 and 256-bit). Encryption can be configured individually for every image, including incremental images. The readout of information (though not the image files) is also possible where a password is unavailable.

Mount Images in Windows Explorer
Complete and incremental images can be mounted as drives through O&O DiskImage and Windows Explorer and also then unmounted again. This enables direct access to individual files or directories without the need to restore the whole image content.

Splitting Image Files
Images can be split into either traditional portions (CD, DVD etc.) or also on user-defined scales. An automatic split is also possible, when for example the target drive is full or the maximum file size for the file system has been reached. Compression and encryption for every image can be individually selected too. 64-bit and Multiprocessor Support The creation or restoration of an image is significantly accelerated by the native support of 64-bit and multiprocessor systems. O&O DiskImage supports Windows XP 64-bit.

System Restoration without Creation of a Start CD
For restoring an entire system there is no need for a rescue CD to be created as a Start CD is provided (the so-called “bare metal” technology). The CD is based on Windows Server 2003 (PE) and contains all the standard Windows drivers so that, on most systems, a complex integration of drivers is not necessary. The option to install additional hard disk control drivers is however still available. Once the Start CD boots up the PC, O&O DiskImage enables the required image to be selected and then fully restored.

Animation of Vue items can be done either through Vue (e.g. for wind effects), or using the host application's animation tools. Both types of animation are naturally combined seamlessly.

Vue 7 xStream for 3ds Max and Cinema4D will even let you paint EcoSystems interactively (on Vue objects or on native objects), directly through the host application's viewports*.

Full Support of All Vue Elements

You can create Vue environments directly in the host application, or you can load ready-made environments that were designed on a stand-alone version of Vue (Vue 7 Infinite, or Vue 7 xStream running in stand-alone mode - xStream can run either as a plug-in or as a stand-alone application).

A single license of Vue 7 xStream can now be used with all compatible applications and renderers installed on your system, without requiring the purchase of any Extra Renderer licenses (unlike what as was the case with Vue 6 xStream).

* Vue 7 xStream for Max and XSI works with MentalRay.

The render process

Upon rendering, xStream kicks-in its own render engine, which works in parallel to the native renderer. This assures that the Vue elements will look exactly as if they were rendered inside Vue, and also helps speeding up the rendering of polygon-heavy elements such as terrains and EcoSystems.

However, this is a completely transparent process. There is no need to deal with the xStream renderer. Parameters such as render resolution and anti-aliasing quality need only to be set for the native renderer. If necessary, you can override these settings easily.

Workflow

Matching Scene Scales

Vue 7 xStream automatically matches it's unit system so that the sizing of Vue elements matches that of the host application. This ensures that a one foot-large cube in Vue also measures exactly one foot in the host application.

It is also possible to customize the scaling ratio between Vue and the host application.
Display

For each element in the environment, Vue generates a 3D proxy in the host application. These proxies are displayed, like any other native object, using the application's OpenGL or Direct3D engine.

You can change the level of detail of proxies to speed up the refresh rate of very large Vue scenes.
